Questions churches ask us
Straight answers about pricing, getting started, giving on M-Pesa, the member app and your data. If your question is not here, call us and a real person will answer.
Getting started
Is MyChurch easy to use?
Yes. MyChurch is made for church offices, not technicians. We set up your church with you, help you bring your members across, and the people who build MyChurch answer the phone when you need help.
How is the software installed?
There is nothing to install. Your church office signs in from any web browser at account.mychurch.co.ke, and members use the free My Church app for Android and iPhone.
Is there a free trial available?
We start with a demo. We walk you through MyChurch with your own church in mind and answer every question before you decide. Talk to us about trying it with your church.
Can we import our existing church data?
Yes. Members, children, department lists, past collections and expenses can be imported from Excel, and we help you with the first import.
Can we customise the system to match our church's needs?
Yes. You set up your own collection accounts, departments, ministries, cell groups, services and schedules, decide how new members are approved, and send messages under your church's own name. A church can also have its own Android and iPhone app with its name and logo, at an extra one-time cost.
Pricing and payment
What is the pricing structure for MyChurch?
There are two plans, paid monthly: Basic at KES 5,800 and Premium at KES 8,120, both including VAT. There is also a one-time set-up fee, and SMS is paid separately as you use it.
What features are included in the Basic plan?
Members, families, children and visitors; giving on your own M-Pesa paybill or till with SMS receipts; pledges, fundraisers and contribution programmes; services, check-ins and Sunday school; departments, ministries and cell groups; bulk SMS; accounts, expenses and vote heads; sermons, devotions and announcements; calendar, classes, feedback and prayer requests; standard reports; and the member app.
What does the Premium plan add?
Everything in Basic, plus events with registration and fees, budgets and requisitions with approvals, advanced financial reports, appointments, USSD for members without a smartphone, TV schedules, and merchandise and parking payments.
Is there a set-up fee?
Yes, a one-time fee that covers setting up your church's account, registering your SMS sender name and connecting your M-Pesa paybill or till. It depends on what you need, so we quote it when we talk.
What payment methods do you accept?
The subscription is paid on M-Pesa. Go to Lipa na M-Pesa, Paybill, business number 4010963, and enter CH- followed by your church's number as the account number. Your church's exact account number is shown in the portal. If you need another arrangement, talk to us.
Is SMS included in the subscription?
No. SMS is bought separately through Mobile Sasa, our messaging service, at its published rates, so you pay only for the messages you send. Receipts, reminders and notices all use the same SMS balance.
Can we cancel our subscription at any time?
Yes. You pay month by month and can stop at any time by telling us at [email protected]. Ask us before you leave if you would like an export of your records.
What happens if a payment is late?
We send a reminder before the subscription runs out. If it lapses, the church's account is paused until the next payment, and your records stay as they were.
Can we move from Basic to Premium later?
Yes. Tell us and we switch the plan; from then on you pay the Premium amount each month.
Giving and M-Pesa
Does the money our members give pass through MyChurch?
No. Members give to your church's own paybill, till or bank account. MyChurch records each payment, confirms it with Safaricom and sends the receipt. The money stays in the church's account.
Can we keep the paybill we already have?
Yes. MyChurch works with your church's existing M-Pesa paybill or till. We connect it during set-up, and members keep paying to the number they already know.
What happens when a member types the wrong account number?
The payment is still recorded, and it waits on a review list in the portal so the office can place it in the right account. It is never dropped.
Members and the app
Do members pay for the app?
No. The My Church app is free for members on Google Play and the App Store. They sign in with the phone number your church has for them.
Our members are not all on smartphones. Will this work for them?
Yes. Every member gets SMS receipts and messages on any phone. On the Premium plan, members can also check in, give and pledge through a USSD menu that works without data.
Can members update their own details?
Yes. In the app members update their profile, add children and invite a spouse. Changes to the family need the member's PIN, and new members are approved by the church.
Support and your data
What kind of support do you offer?
Call or WhatsApp us on 0796 002 630, or write to [email protected]. You talk to our team in Nairobi, the same people who build MyChurch, and we help you through set-up and your first import.
How secure is our church's data?
Everyone in your office signs in with their own account, sees only what their role allows and confirms a one-time code by email. Changes to money and membership are recorded with who made them. Member data belongs to your church, we handle it under Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019, and members can ask for theirs to be deleted.
Still have a question?
Call or WhatsApp us on 0796 002 630, or send us a message and we will call you back.
Let us show you around
Tell us about your church and we will walk you through MyChurch with your own situation in mind: your members, your paybill, your Sundays. Moving from spreadsheets or another system? We help you bring your members across.
